Chapter Summary

Joey had already consumed many paint chips. He was diagnosed with an education disorder. In his opinion, he thinks he is very lucky that he didn't get a tumor or something worse. He had to go to extra classes everyday. On top of all of this, his parents were getting divorced. Joey didn't have any friends at school. He was always alone, and picked on most of the time.
Chapter 2
Nicole, Joey's older sister, was the only company he had around. She didn't really like him since the day he was born. She would boss him around, yell at him, get him in trouble, and even once, hit him. Joey put all of that aside, because he thought she was the most awesome, prettiest, and smartest girl ever. The harder he tried to get close to her, the more she pushed him away. She got so tired of him one day, that she pushed him down a set of stairs. Joey was horrified, but not as horrified as Nicole was at herself. After that incident, she didn't dare put a hand on him. Although she continued to boss him around and yell at him.

He started noticing a change in her behavior. She would act crazy at times and do some peculiar things. Joey found out that she had been drinking a lot lately. He was saddened to know that every single night, she would come home drunk out of her mind. Joey would always get scared at her not coming home one day, or even hurting herself. Nicole, Joey's older sister, got into a lot of arguments with his mom. Eventually she moved away from her mother and went with her dad instead. That left Joey all alone with his alcoholic mother. But he couldn't just leave her. He cared for her too much to do that. With her being too drunk to function, Joey learned to take care of himself.
